INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: RP-D MODELS:
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- RP-D panels are intended for surface mounting to an existing ceiling in conjunction with a specific surface wiring system.
- Panels are most effective when placed between the center of the room and outside wall, or above the area of high heat loss (i.e. window, door). Panels will operate with greater economy and comfort, if the room is well insulated.
CAUTION:
- Whenever installing or handling a panel, be sure power is off at main breaker or switch.
- All wiring must conform to local and national codes.
- Maximum number of heaters per circuit is limited to branch circuit wiring and thermostat capacity.
- Do not puncture, nail, or screw into any part of the heating panel other than through provided predrilled holes.
- Do not cover panel face with any material that could retard heat distribution or cause over-heating. Panel may be over-painted: use only good quality, water-based acrylic-latex paint, as low quality paint may discolor.
PANEL INSTALLATION - GENERAL
- RP-D panels are supplied with 8" wire leads (14 AWG, 105°C), which extend through side of panel frame, connection box (157485, manufactured by Wiremold Company) and cover, hardware for fastening the panel to the surface of an existing ceiling.
- After determining proper panel sizes and layout, power supply wiring should be run to the approximate location where splices will be made. (Use Wiremold surface wiring system 1500 or 1700)
SURFACE MOUNTING:
- Assemble Wiremold junction box and rear plate and attach to the side of the panel frame with the provided hardware.
- Position panel and junction box assembly onto ceiling to mark the location of the panel and junction box mounting holes.
- Drill holes (3-1/16" dia., 1-1/4" deep) at each mark and insert anchors into drilled holes.
- Hold the panel and junction box assembly to the ceiling; insert screw completely through large frame hole and screw securely through small frame hole into anchor.
- Bring Wiremold raceway through appropriate knockout of panel junction box.
- Connect the power supply conductors to the panel leads: Attach the grounding conductor to the provided ground clip.
