A Comparison of Enerjoy I & II...

ENERJOY IIÔ , THE HIGH MASS, HIGH WATT DENSITY RADIANT HEATING PANEL FOR COST EFFECTIVE INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS INCLUDING HIGH HUMIDITY AND HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS

ENERJOY II, high mass, high watt density radiant ceiling and/or wall mounted electric heating panels offer exactly the right combination of wattage output, durability and performance characteristics for slightly to severely more hostile environmental conditions than normal. Four different models afford the ideal opportunity to achieve greater comfort while reducing installation and operating costs in commercial, institutional, industrial (including high humidity, Class II and Class III hazardous and NEMA Type 12 locations) and residential applications.

Energy Efficient Design

All ENERJOY II models are constructed of the required gauge steel, zinc coated for corrosion resistance, crimped for increased strength and rigidity, and silicone sealed for moisture resistance. As with ENERJOY I, the heating element in combination with high density fiberglass assures the most heat generated is directed through the face downward into the area of occupancy. This is above 98% for ENERJOY I and 85% for ENERJOY II of input energy. The textured cementicious surface coating promotes broad dispersion. An appropriate Greenfield cable conduit or junction box completes construction of the UL Listed ENERJOY II heater. A wide selection of sizes, voltages and watt densities are available as appropriate for each model. ENERJOY I has 6² pigtails and a field installed panel junction box.

Lay-in ENERJOY II

The most commonly used ENERJOY II model, the RPCHD (regular high density lay-in), is ideal for suspended ceilings where space is at a premium, ceiling height is above 9 feet, the air change is at least 1-1½ per hour, single pane glass runs floor to ceiling, or other extreme heat loss factors prevail.

The ENERJOY II RPCHR (revealed edge high density lay-in) is for tegular ceilings or where revealed edge design is specified. A similar, revealed edge model is available in ENERJOY I. In all other respects, it is identical to the standard lay-in model.

Each model is available in high or low watt density, 250 to 750 watts in sizes 2¢ x2¢ & 2¢ x4¢ , and voltages of 120/240, 208 and 277. Unique ENERJOY II crimped flange construction minimizes required head space and facilitates panel installation. ENERJOY I is only 1² thick which also facilitates installation.

Lay-in ENERJOY I

For 8¢ ceilings with less hostile conditions, either low density ENERJOY II or ENERJOY I would be specified from both an operating cost and comfort standpoint. Precise sizing (not oversizing) is essential for sedentary office comfort. Lower wattage units maintain comfort with frequent cycling within a narrow temperature range, providing ideal comfort.

Industrial ENERJOY I & ENERJOY II

ENERJOY I may be appropriate where the environment is less hostile in terms of heat loss and equipment abuse. If coverage over a large area is desired, a lightweight 4¢ x6¢ or 4¢ x8¢ panel could be suspended approximately 7½¢ -8¢ above the floor.

ENERJOY II RPFS, ceiling surface mount, and RPFSH, super high watt density, are designed for industrial and commercial task or spot heating where high or super high watt density concentration is required and a heavy duty metal panel is needed. The RPFS or RPFSH may be surface mounted to, or suspended from, a ceiling at least 6¢ from the floor, using the permanently attached mounting spacer bracket.

Energy savings are achieved because heat can be concentrated when and where it is needed. Panels can be suspended from the ceiling directly over the work station, mounted conveniently on the ceiling and/or angled downward toward the work station. Less heat is needed than with high output gas or electric heaters, which are be mounted on or nearer the ceiling.

ENERJOY is more efficient than conventional convection floor heaters which lose most of their heat output in the form of rising hot air, which pulls more cool air into the occupied floor level area (stack effect).

High Humidity ENERJOY II

Use ENERJOY II RPFMS (ceiling mounted moisture sealed) and RPFMSH (super high wattage, moisture sealed) in high humidity locations. Constructed with a UL Listed liquid-tight junction box in place of the 4² octagon box provided with the RPFS series, RPFMS heaters meet test requirements for NEMA Type 12 enclosures, appropriate in non-corrosive, dusty, falling dirt in non-corrosive areas, but are not UL Listed for Class II or Class III hazardous locations.

Both models are made of 24 gauge zinc coated, galvanized steel for corrosion resistance. Mounting brackets to facilitate direct mounting to the ceiling or suspension from the ceiling are standard. Panels are available in 2¢ x4¢ and 2¢ x6¢ with high density wattage from 750 to 1250 watts and 120/240, 208 and 277 voltages. Super high wattage range is 1000 and 1500 watts respectively.

Hazardous Location ENERJOY II

ENERJOY II RPHS (hazardous location, surface mount) is UL Listed for Class II, Groups E, F & G and Class III hazardous conditions. Construction is of 18 gauge steel and all seams are arc welded. A UL Listed junction box for hazardous locations with dual conduit openings to permit pass-through wiring is provided. Panel design accommodates ceiling surface or suspended mounting. In conformance with the National Electrical Code and UL Standard 823, the maximum operating temperature is 160° C based on a 40° C ambient.

Class II hazardous locations contain combustible dust, while Class III hazardous locations have ignitable fibers or flyings present. Each class has Division I where the hazardous material is normally in the air and Class II where it is not in the air. Because of the adverse conditions occurring in either class in each division, each installation should be reviewed by the user with his insurance carrier to be certain of suitability for installation.

In most applications it will not be possible to attain a 70° F comfort temperature, due to the environmental conditions; however, a substantial increase in comfort should be attainable in desired areas or work stations with the use of multiple units. Panels are available in sizes of 2¢ x2¢ and 2¢ x4¢ with low density wattage from 250 to 500, and standard voltages of 120/240, 208 and 277.
